About Transverse Myelitis
On July 20, 2010, I was stricken by a band of pain across my chest. 24 hours later I was totally paralyzed from mid chest down.
I was diagnosed after an MRI with Transverse Myelitis, an auto immune disorder which occurs when the auto immune system attacks the spinal cord. It can be caused by any one of a hundred things, and the cause of mine was not identified.
After 42 days in the hospital I came home, and since then have continued to progress. Today I am 83.7% recovered, and if you didn't know about my condition, you would never guess.
My wife and I were 3000 miles away from home when this occurred, and we have written a book about our experiences which includes important information for any patients in a hospital. It is available on Amazon.com by clicking on the cover below:
