 Claire Bloom, CIRM,  M.S. E. L., M.S. S.I

     Claire Bloom is an associate with Educational Partners International, a private, not-for-profit educational organization specializing in curriculum design and instruction for community and business education.

     Her professional background includes more than ten years of curriculum design and instruction in Total Quality Management, Strategic Planning, Change Management, Team Building, Leadership and Management.  She has taught and worked in a variety of environments, including the United States Navy, from which she retired in the Summer of 1998 after having served for more than two years as the Executive Officer of USS CONSTITUTION, the oldest commissioned warship afloat in the world.

      She has a Master of Science in Educational Leadership, a Master of Science in Strategic Intelligence, is Certified in Integrated Resource Management, is an APICS Certified Instructor for CIRM, is qualified to administer and interpret the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, and is a certified lay speaker in the United Methodist Church.  She is an active volunteer, and is currently serving as the Vice President for Marketing for the Granite State Chapter of APICS, the Educational Society for Resource Management and is on the APICS Steering Committee for the APICS Service SIG.  She is also a Rotarian (Kittery ME).   She is a frequent speaker at business and organization events, and is the author of the Bloom Report, a monthly business column.  Additionally she has authored articles in various publications.

 

Keith J. Launchbury, B. Tech, CFPIM, CIRM

    Keith Launchbury obtained a Bachelor of Technology degree in Applied Physics from the University of West London (Brunel) in 1974. Since then he has concentrated on the implementation of planning and control systems in a wide range of business environments.

     Initially he worked as a graduate trainee for Pirelli General in Southampton, England, specializing in method study and industrial engineering projects. In 1977 he joined Northern Telecom's Cable Division in Lachine, Québec as a Manufacturing Systems Coordinator. In this position he worked with the MRP Project Team as an educator and developing the system requirements for MRP in a cable making operation. In 1979 he joined AES Data Inc. initially to implement a Manufacturing System in the Terminals division in Mississauga, Ontario, and then in 1981, he became Manufacturing Systems Manager for the whole company, responsible for the implementation of MRP in each manufacturing division.

  In 1984 he started his own group of business educators, and since that time his company has provided education, consulting and training services to over 120 companies in North and South America, Europe and Asia.

  Certified as a Practitioner in Production and Inventory Management at the Fellow level (CFPIM), and Certified in Integrated Resource Management (CIRM) by APICS, the Educational Society for Resource Management, he served as President of the Montreal Chapter in 1983. He served as the Regional Vice President of APICS for Canada (CAPIC) from 1984 to 1986, before being elected to the position of Vice President of Education Materials from 1986 to 1988. From 1988 to 1990 he served in a number of executive roles for APICS leading up to the position of International President in 1991. He was also a significant contributor to the APICS Integrated Resource Management Program. He served APICS as Chair of the Curricula and Certification Council, the group that develops and administers all the certification testing , from 1995-1997.

   A much requested speaker at Conferences, Seminars and Chapter Meetings, he is outspoken on the need for a fundamental change in the nature of Business Education. Together with Jean-Daniel Cusin, he is the co-author of the World Class Manufacturing Checklist, and the Manufacturing Application System Specification Standard. Together with Claire Bloom, he is the co-author of the Great Organization, Smart Worker; Super Culture; Vital Customer Service; Prime Technology and Power Teams Checklists, and co-developer of The "Marketing Game and the "Manufacturing Simulation Game.
